What are BCAA's? And why you should use them!

As former Mr. Natural Colorado, WNBF natural pro, and INBA natural pro when it comes to dieting and supplements, I have tried it all. As far as supplements, I’m a believer in FOOD to do my work. A consistent diet is the key to success for losing weight and body fat! Supplements are exactly what they are, a supplement to food. That being said there are supplements that our body can’t produce naturally, or that we become deficient in through long periods of dieting.

This month, I’ll be sharing the supplements that I use daily!

BCAA (Branch Chain Amino Acids) are the building block of protein. They are comprised of three essential amino acids (leucine, isoleucine, and valine) is is 35% of your body’s muscle protein. The reason they are essential, because your body cannot make them. We have to get these supplements through food or workout supplements.

Why you should use BCAA’s! As stated earlier BCAA’s are make up 35-40% of all essential aminos found in your body, and about 15% found in the muscle. These are valuable for the following reasons.

  1. Your body can use them to build lean muscle

  2. Help produce energy and regulate blood sugar levels

  3. Prevent muscle breakdown

How to use? BCAA’s help you get more out of your daily gym session, that’s potentially more reps and more gains. I suggest to use this supplement intra workout, 1-2 scoops in your water should do the trick.
