What is Creatine? And why you should use it!

Last week we talked about BCAA’s and the benefits of taking them. This week, let’s focus on CREATINE.

The three energy systems of the body are ATP-PC, Glycolysis, and Aerobic. For the benefit of this supplement we are going to focus on ATP-PC. This system is short term and used with in the 1 to 10 seconds of intense exercise.

Creatine is stored in the the muscle as phosphocreatine, to replenish your ATP-PC. Creatine is a substance that is found naturally in muscle cells and can help you increase muscle mass, strength, and recovery

Why you should use Creatine: As stated earlier creatine can improve health and athletic performance in several ways.

  1. Impact on your brain: Just like your muscles your brain stores phosphocreatine and requires ATP for optimal function.

  2. Prevent muscle breakdown: Help maintain strength and training performance and help increase muscle mass during intense training.

  3. Performance: Normal ATP is depleted within 8-10 seconds of high intensity training. Creatine can help you perform at a high level for a few seconds longer.

    How to use? 3-5 grams daily should do the trick. There is no need to cycle this supplement, you can stick with this dosage for a long time.
